•  ABOUT RALEIGH ~ WAKE COUNTY

Solid K-12 Education Philosophy:  Education is the foundation of our Society and the first step to fighting crime.  The quality of education our children receive today, will define what North Carolina will be in the 21st Century.
Approach:  Money allocation for education, must be used for education.  Good education starts in the classroom with skilled training for teachers and higher pay that rewards excellence.  Children should be tested by independent groups, and should never be given passing grades when they don't achieve minimum standards in basic reading and math skills, just to push them out of the system.  Our NC Constitution guarantees a good education.
Secure Property Rights Philosophy It is my opinion, based on my own experiences and listening to other concerned property owners, that the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Kelo v. New London, Ct. that allowed condemnation of low income residences for economic development, precipitated lack of confidence in the security of real estate as a wise investment, and started our property values to plummet and the mortgage market to collapse.
Approach We must restore confidence and security in owning our own homes, by enacting laws that protect our property rights from threats of forced annexation of existing residences, condemnation for economic development, and increasing property taxes and taxes on home sales.  Our government must stop its unfettered acquisition of property.
IdeaI would like your feedback on my idea to rescale property tax according to the value of the land owned, without taxing improvements.  This would simplify the tax basis, save substantial costs in assessments and appeals, and stimulate home and property improvement and growth without worrying about how it affects your property taxes.
Lower Taxes and more for the needs of the People Philosophy Taxes are a burden on society that are out of control.  Legislation seems to be driven by a pursuit of new means to generate revenue from hard-work individuals, such as a ridiculous "sales tax" on selling your own home, or a food tax to eat in a restaurant that promotes fast food carry-outs.  No tax, no law, should favor one business over another.  That's fundamental to a system of Free Enterprise.  Hard work to build your American Dream and plan for your retirement falls apart when taxes eat away your nest egg.
ApproachThis is a very important issue.  Fiscal responsibility and accountability must be established to eliminate wasteful spending, especially D.O.T. (remarks "under construction").  The needs of the People must come first.  No one should be without a roof over their head, a good meal, a warm bed, and adequate healthcare, because money is used to build a new road to nowhere.  The government is bleeding the People for everything it can get.  It is time to tell our government what it needs to be doing for the People, to help restore jobs and economic prosperity.
Update Out-of-Date, Confusing, and Incomplete Laws Some appellate court judges find themselves addressing the same issues over and over, and writing comments into their opinions to identify questions the NC Legislature needs to address.  So let's do it.  I'm ready and know what to do.  I have studied NC Law intently, with help from attorneys.  I understand many issues facing the courts, attorneys, and people who get sued or need the court's help to resolve a dispute.  I understand the issues and can take the lead on this and get our laws clarified and up-to-date.  The system of justice in its present form just is not working for the People.  One particular issue I have is with prosecuting attorneys who withhold evidence that helps get a conviction notch on their belt and potentially a $100K/yr appointment as a judge.
Promote Small Businesses Small businesses are often destroyed by the high costs of litigation to protect their rights, when they cannot afford to keep a high powered law firm on a $100,000 a year retainer.  Small businesses are the BACKBONE of our economy, and must have affordable access to a fair and impartial system of justice.  (I have been fighting for equal rights of pro se as a small business owner for 7 years, with some progress.)
Is increased minimum wage just another way to increase taxes? When minimum wage increases, costs of everything else goes up with it, because manufacturers and businesses have increased costs they pass on to the consumer, two fold because they want more of the "pie".  Minimum wages aids inflation, with the sole purpose to increase the income tax base to generate more revenue.  Increasing minimum wage hurts small businesses the most, who only hire one or two, or just a few employees and may have to let one go to pay the other.  That also hurts the unemployment rate, priced out of a job by a law that is not constitutional in the first place, because it impairs the right of businesses to contract with individuals for pay in exchange for services rendered.
Assure Quality Health Care
Increasing population in the Raleigh-Wake area places greater demands on community health care facilities, such as Wake Medical Center.  This means more staffing to handle emergencies.
•Surgery facilities at hospitals contaminated by resistant strains of bacteria must be sanitized and/or renovated, whatever it takes, to protect patients who die from post-surgery infections.
Protect Children, Elderly, & Disabled
Our children are entitled to the full protection of the State from abuse and neglect, which may mean more group and foster homes.
Recent abuse documented against mental health facilities in North Carolina is a disgrace.  Abuse of elderly in nursing homes often goes unnoticed.  These facilities must have full view monitors, and offenders must be prosecuted under appropriate laws.
Do Illegal Immigrants pose a Security Risk to our State? • The biggest hazard to our State/Nation's security is any law that permits illegal immigrants to stay without going through the citizenship process, security check, and "DNA registry" (idea).  If we allow our neighbors from Mexico special amnesty, then the U.S. Supreme Court will grant it to ALL illegal residents, regardless of origin.
• Education of illegal immigrants has been an issue.  The constitutional guarantee to a good education applies to citizens.  If they are not citizens, then as for community colleges, they should pay out-of-state, out-of-nation tuition.
Resolve Right to Life<>Right Choose The U.S. Supreme Court set the standard for States to follow.  Now let's apply it to unite the parties on common ground, instead of exploiting it to keep our Nation divided.  I am a "right to life" advocate, but I also believe that a woman has a "right to choose" as soon as possible and then should not be allowed to change her mind later, after promise of life has formed.  "If you poke and it kicks, leave it alone."
Protect Constitutional rights,
liberties, and freedom
We must enact stronger laws that protect the rights of the People that our Constitution can only guaranty.  Without laws to enforce rights guaranteed under the Constitution, it is worth no more than the historical significance of the paper it's written on.  Sad, but true.  Alexander Hamilton, one of the writer's of the U.S. Constitution said:  "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."  And Thomas Jefferson said, "Let no more be said of confidence in man, but bind him by the chains of the Constitution."  Only laws can protect the guarantees of our State and U.S. Constitutions.

ABOUT RALEIGH / WAKE COUNTY
Raleigh and Wake County residents need safe and comfort-able public transportation throughout the County to make jobs accessible to more individuals, and to reduce traffic and emissions. // The south side of I-540 needs to be finished.
// Forced annexation in rapidly developing areas, like eastern Wake County increases the burden on already strained public utility systems.  This must be prohibited to conserve natural resources when existing residences have perfectly good wells and septic systems.  Besides, it's unconstitutional under the Just Compensation clause of the Fifth Amendment, when residents have to pay to connect, pay to use it, and pay additional town taxes as well.  That's reverse compensation.  These are issues that I will argue on behalf of Wake County.
